Back when I was painting all my covers in oils, this image was created for Avon Books, some time in the early 1990s. I almost never do them in oils now, reserving that medium for my gallery work. In a way , the paintings from that time have a nice, classic feeling, which reflects my interests at the time. I was trying to push the genre of romance illustration in a classic painting direction. But I couldn't help throwing in innovative techniques and experimenting with what could be done on a small book cover. This piece does have a largely classical look, which i purposely did by keeping the tones muted and warm throughout. I have forgotten the title of this one.
