YOUNG LOVERS IN MOONLIGHT

This is a cropped version of a wrap illustration, that covered the from and back of the book. I'll post the whole painting at another time. It is one of my favorites from this early 1990s and amazingly it still looks up to date. I was experimenting with the use of spatter in acrylic underpainting. I tried airbrush, but found it too even and smooth. I was after a subtly speckled look. So I ended up using a toothbrush and a piece of cardboard to create the spatter. This painting has a very pleasant mood and I believe the textures helped create that feeling.
