HENRIETTE

Henriette, ( Not the original title) draws heavily from classical paintings of the 18th and 19th centuries. I emulated the way fabric was painted in those eras and even the pose is something you would see in works from that time. The background, however has a distinctly off-beat feeling that betrays this as a modern day painting. The forced perspective and the placement of the man and view beyond, look addly surrealI remember drawing the perspective lines iin pencil with a ruler, taking pleasure in the way the checkered floor created the illusion of deep space, but also somehow bending reality. I used glaing in some shadow areas, to enhance the feeling of three dimensions.
