THE APARTMENT, ( not the original title), Was intended to be a 'modern' romance cover, in that the time is the present. Amazingly, it still looks modern 25 years later. I was experimenting at the time with splatter effects in acrylic, over which i painted in oils. Much of the background remains acrylic. and if you look closely, you may see the grainy effect of splatters of paint over the entire surface. I believe the idea for this came from film grain, which has an interesting look, though we usually try hard to avoid it. I can still get that effect in digital cameras at very low light. It's a pretty straightforward romance, two young people in love in front of a window overlooking a city. The choice of flowers and what lind ovase they would be in gave me lots of thought. It turns out, flowers tell a story like everything else in the painting.
