I always liked the title, ONE LONELY NIGHT. It inspired an internal story line of two lonely people in the wilderness, finding love in spite of isolation. I imagined her trying to live on bravely in the little farm, after her husband died, never thinking she would encounter even kindness, let alone love. But here he was, an equally battered cowboy passing through, carrying who know what kinds of burdens. THis painting illustrates the moment they allow their feeling out, feelings of loss, of hope of pleasure in each other's company.
