I believe this cover was done for a book titled, The Endearment, by LaVerle Spencer. It was the first of many covers for that author and the original of this painting is in her collection. I painted it in 1981. There was something very touching about the story in the way the couple's relationship developed that cames through in this cover. The models captured a warmth, mixed with shyness on the girl's part and a reassuring gesture on the guy's part.
